About Us

Our mission statement:

Our aim is to ensure a tour-of-a-lifetime experience for every guest, every time!

From its humble beginnings in 2002, operating a helicopter from a cleared sugar cane paddock in Port Douglas, Skysafari’s creators soon understood and identified the potential of offering much more than a ‘joy flight’ experience. Far greater value could be offered by not only sharing the miracle of flight over globally recognized precious terrain but by additionally creating interactive and personalised air touring. The branding name of ‘Skysafari’ was born to reflect the nature of the experience that guests could expect to achieve.

A consolidation of resources and the arrival and implementation of key staff and practices has seen Skysafari achieve considerable success and realise their powerful potential as a leader in aviation tourism and one of the ‘must do’ experiences when visiting Tropical North Queensland.

The Skysafari Team

With a mindset for continued and never ending improvement, Skysafari have successfully developed an exciting sustainable recipe. That is, combine a highly trained and informative team of pilot-guides to escort guests in modern aircraft to premier, exclusive locations while actively seeking, supporting and presenting the ‘best of the best’ in operators and suppliers in Tropical Australia. This collaboration has enabled guests to experience the ultimate in access to an extensive range of locations and activities while receiving the finest in service and local cuisine. The Skysafari team’s leadership, desire and ability to exceed each and every guest’s outcome is what sets Skysafari apart from other aviation leveraged companies.

“We are members of a team involved in presenting and sharing the most
outstanding places on the planet and we are privileged to be a part of it.”
                                                          Bradley King -Skysafari Director

Skysafari’s pilot-guides are deliberately hand picked for their ability to enhance experiences while offering guests a locals interpretation of these incredibly contrasting environments. These outstanding men and women facilitate the direct and exclusive interaction of their guests with some of the most outstanding locations on the planet. Whether it be a 15 minute scenic flight or a 3 day excursion, every guest is treated with the same great energy, attention and respect.

Skysafari pilot-guides have the best job in the world, and they know it; they are reminded by their guests daily. Exceeding expectations is what they do by default. This is a business created by people doing what they love the most. From the founders, to the pilots and ground staff they are all constantly reaching for the sky!

Nourishing this culture are the Skysafari owner operators, Za Harricharan and pilot-guide, Bradley King. These successful life and business partners are determined to continue to add value to their business. They are passionately committed to developing their brand throughout Queensland and Australia through sustainable and elite practices with the aim of adding value to local and Australian Tourism.

Skysafari aims at serving high end, niche group clients through Personalised Air Touring products throughout Tropical North Queensland via their home base in Port Douglas and the Cairns International Airport. All company team pilots and ground staff proudly reside locally, in and around the Port Douglas and the Cairns region and enthusiastically boast of their lifestyles, back yards and places of work to be surely among the best in the world! Few could argue…

Skysafari also places competitively in the market place for all air work components. The utilization of their aircraft is supplemented through extensive charter and airwork opportunities and contracts for which they are also well respected. This includes passenger transfers, aerial film work & photography, aerial survey, sling operations, feral animal control, power line & pipeline inspection, mineral exploration, surveillance and incendiary dropping.

The preferred helicopter types utilized are the Robinson 44 Clipper II helicopter, carrying 3 passengers plus the pilot and the Bell Jet Ranger 206 allowing for 4 passengers plus pilot.

Port Douglas guests have been enjoying the Robinson 44 helicopter with Skysafari since 2002. The R44 dominate the Skysafari fleet as they have proven themselves to not only enhance the relationship between pilot-guide and guest but are definitely the most efficient and visually impressive as each passenger enjoys their own window seat perspective. With Skysafari’s 100% clean safety record, they are decidedly supported by the R44’s reputation as the safest helicopter in the world.

The Bell Jet Ranger remains a well proven, reliable and attractive turbine helicopter and a familiar face participating on many larger group transfers and excursions.

Aeroplanes that garnish the operation are the swift twin engine Cessna 310 and the Barron, as well as larger aircraft as required.

Skysafari has been designed to maintain diligent foundations in safety and service, second to none.
